The Biltmore Hotel built in 1925 was the hotspot in South Florida hosting celebrities and royalty, as well as, U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Despite it's rise as an early-Miami oasis, two events would prove to have a lasting effect on the hotel: the murder of gangster Thomas "Fatty" Walsh on the 13th Floor and the rezoning of the Biltmore as a veteran's hospital in 1942 where hundreds have died.
After her closing as a military hospital high school students would sneak into the abandoned building only to see people walking around with their feet floating above the ground, or they would get tapped on the shoulder and see men in army uniforms. People walking past the outside of the hotel have witnessed a woman waving from the tower. Crying babies could be heard coming through the walls, as well as sounds from a party that was not taking place. Once a man came to the front desk to speak to the clerk and then completely vanished into thin air.
It is said a spirit opens doors for waitresses carrying trays, steals lampshades, turns lights on and off, even writes messages in the condensation on the mirrors. The Biltmore's original elevator often rises to the 13th floor stopping without cause. Could it be Fatty Walsh trying to take care of some unfinished business?
