MASSILLON STATE HOSPITAL PHOTOS
The site chosen for the very first state hospital in the US and Canada
was located in Massillon, Ohio with construction of the hospital beginning in 1893 and the hospital opening on
September 6, 1898. At one time the hospital housed as many as 3100 mentally insame patients with
365 employees and remained open until 1995 closing it doors forever.
